Support All Accessible OpenCode Models

Work directly in:
/home/kernel-kain/Documents/Github/unfinished-business
Execution rules:
- Work only on the main branch.
- Begin with:
- git status
- git switch main
- git pull --ff-only origin main
- Preserve all unrelated changes, untracked files, and existing stashes. Do not apply, delete, or commit .backboard/, .unfinished-business/, .env files, credentials, or the existing stash unless this phase explicitly requires it.
- Read the relevant source, tests, AGENTS.md files, and documentation before editing.
- Implement only the phase described below. Do not begin the next phase.
- Maintain backward compatibility with existing saved projects through explicit migrations.
- Do not expose provider secrets, prompts containing secrets, or private model output in logs, telemetry, screenshots, or error messages.
- Add or update tests for every behavior changed.
- After implementation, update the relevant project documentation, including:
- README.md when user-facing behavior changes
- docs/ARCHITECTURE.md
- docs/DECISIONS.md
- docs/IMPLEMENTATION_PLAN.md
- docs/EVIDENCE.md
- docs/RELEASE_NOTES.md
- any phase-specific setup or integration documentation
- Mark the phase complete in the implementation plan only after its acceptance criteria pass.
- Run all relevant verification. At minimum:
- npm run typecheck
- npm test
- npm run build Run visual, security, budget, contract, migration, or integration tests when affected.
- Review the final git diff for accidental files, secrets, debugging output, and unrelated changes.
- Commit with the commit message specified by this phase.
- Push the commit to origin/main. Never force-push.
- If the push is rejected because origin/main advanced, fetch and rebase safely, resolve only scoped conflicts, rerun verification, and push normally.
- Finish with:
- implementation summary
- changed files
- documentation updated
- tests and results
- known limitations
- commit hash
- push result
Do not stop for ordinary implementation decisions. Stop only if there is a destructive conflict, missing required credential, irreconcilable remote conflict, or a decision that would materially change the product’s intended behavior.
The Code Mode tool catalog has changed. This catalog supersedes the previous Code Mode tool catalog.
Code Mode
The tools listed below, and search, cannot be called directly: they only work as JavaScript inside the execute tool. Every other tool you have is a normal tool call: call it directly, never inside execute.
The catalog is partial. Before calling a tool that is not listed below, find it with the global search(...) function. Do not guess tool names. Each result's path is the complete call expression: write it out as code, for example await tools.ns.tool_name({ ... }). Do not use it as a key such as tools[path].
- search({ query?: string, namespace?: string, /** @integer @exclusiveMinimum 0 / limit?: number, /* @integer @minimum 0 / offset?: number, }): { items: Array<{ path: string, description: string, signature: string, }>, /* @integer @minimum 0 / remaining: number, next: { /* @integer @minimum 0 */ offset: number, } | null, }

Implementation summary
Completed Upgrade Phase 1: model access now defaults to All accessible models, with an optional Free and local only policy. Paid and unknown-price remote models require an explicit persisted confirmation, optional spending limits support unlimited/disabled or positive USD values, and provider failures now produce structured, redacted repair cards instead of generic error text.
Schema v4 and explicit v1/v2/v3 migrations preserve existing projects, selected models, provider allowlists, privacy preferences, and limits. .backboard/ and all unrelated/stashed user content were preserved untouched.

No provider credentials or live/private model output were used.
Known limitations
- Spending limits are enforced only against cost OpenCode reports; an unknown-price provider may report cost after a request.
- The workspace privacy preference records intent; the app cannot attest every provider’s training/retention contract.
- Provider error category inference is heuristic and was tested with synthetic fixtures, not a live provider rejection.
- The application remains a trusted single-project tool; multi-user isolation, arbitrary repository connectors, and remote browser-to-local pairing remain deferred.
- No live Sentry release/source-map/trace verification, public deployment, publication, or submission is claimed.
Commit and push

feat(models): support all accessible OpenCode models - Push:
c476018..d14b7bc main -> mainsucceeded toorigin/main; localHEADmatchesorigin/main.
Implement Phase 1: allow every model available through OpenCode and replace generic provider errors with actionable messages.
Objectives:
- Remove the free/local-only product restriction.
- Permit any model OpenCode reports as available to the connected user.
- Add user-controlled cost safeguards.
- Explain provider privacy, authentication, quota, and availability errors clearly.
Implementation requirements:
- Remove the assertFreeOrLocal selection restriction from the normal model-selection path.
- Do not invent models or silently substitute a different model.
- Add model access preferences:
- All accessible models
- Free and local only
- Default new projects to All accessible models, matching the requested behavior.
- Replace the hardcoded $0 budget behavior with:
- optional session spending limit;
- an unlimited/disabled state;
- explicit handling for models whose prices are unknown.
- Require an informed confirmation before the first paid or unknown-price request when the user has not already accepted that policy.
- Display useful model metadata:
- provider;
- local/remote;
- free/paid/unknown pricing;
- context and output limits;
- variant;
- relevant privacy warning.
- Introduce a structured provider error type with categories:
- PROVIDER_DATA_POLICY
- PROVIDER_AUTH
- PROVIDER_RATE_LIMIT
- PROVIDER_QUOTA
- MODEL_UNAVAILABLE
- MODEL_CONTEXT_LIMIT
- PROVIDER_TEMPORARY
- UNKNOWN_PROVIDER_FAILURE
- Preserve safe provider details, status codes, and session references while redacting secrets.
- Replace generic concatenated error text with an error card containing:
- what happened;
- whether saved work changed;
- recommended repair;
- retry/change-model action;
- technical details disclosure.
- Add a specific explanation for provider routes rejected because they train on request data or conflict with workspace privacy settings.
- Update model-selection, budget, provider-error, redaction, and migration tests.
Acceptance criteria:
- Paid, free, local, and unknown-price models reported as available can be selected under the appropriate policy.
- Free/local-only mode still blocks other models intentionally.
- No paid request is silently made.
- Provider privacy rejection produces a useful repair action.
- Generic provider failures retain a safe diagnostic reference.
- Existing model selections migrate correctly.
Commit message:
feat(models): support all accessible OpenCode models
This exact Phase 1 is already implemented, committed, and pushed on main as:
- Commit:
d14b7bc91057c4ae0c7738dfb301616ba07a1d1b - Message:
feat(models): support all accessible OpenCode models
I verified the current repository state rather than duplicating the work:
mainis up to date withorigin/main- Worktree has no uncommitted implementation changes
.backboard/remains untouched and untrackednpm run typecheck— PASSnpm test— 139 tests, 0 failures
The committed implementation covers all requested acceptance criteria:
- New projects default to All accessible models
- Free/local-only remains available and blocks paid/unknown-price remote models
- Paid and unknown-price models require explicit first-use confirmation
- Optional spending limits support unlimited/disabled or positive values
- Structured provider errors cover all eight required categories
- Provider error cards show what happened, saved-work status, repair action, retry/change-model controls, and redacted technical details
- Privacy/training rejections map to
PROVIDER_DATA_POLICYwith a useful repair action - Schema v4 migration preserves existing selected models, provider policy, and limits
- README, architecture, decisions, implementation plan, evidence, release notes, and related docs were updated
The earlier full verification also passed build, budget, and all 18 visual/accessibility tests. No new commit was created because the requested phase is already complete at the exact requested commit message.
